Reporting to the Global Chief Financial Officer, the North America Director of Finance serves as the finance leader for the North American business providing guidance and support to the commercial and manufacturing organizations. The ability to bring proven value-add to assist with decision making via analysis, guidance and support utilizing tools such as but not limited to; Forecasting; Budget Preparations & Validation; Management of Financial Control Function and mitigation of Risk. A deep level of financial leadership and business expertise required specifically within a complex manufacturing operations business with an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset. Prior pharmaceutical experience is preferred.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Partnering

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to produce annual operating Budget, monthly revenue, and expense analysis and monthly/quarterly forecasting.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and present financial performance in an accurate and timely manner to leadership.
  • Person will be a key member of the Company’s customer pricing team; leading to competitive pricing in organization’s marketplace through collaboration with Operations, Sales, and Corporate Leadership teams, and accountable for development and implementation of tailored pricing models.
  • Works with Sales, Marketing and Research and Development to prepare business cases in support of new product opportunities, business growth and acquisitions.  Role will be customer and supplier facing.

Management of Financial Control

  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, reduce costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and requirements by enforcing adherence to corporate systems, policies, and government regulations; advising management on needed actions.
  • Ensure that internal controls are in place to safeguard assets.
  • Key responsibilities within risk management through analysis and anticipating market trends, formulating contingency plans, and leading recommendation precautionary or improvement measures
  • Responsible for managing operations, cost accounting and treasury functions.

People Leadership, Management and Training

  • Assists leadership teams in understanding the business dynamics including relationships, models, trends, leading indicators, and business statistics
  • Be a Leader to the North American finance team and improve the Finance capabilities of the organization.

 

Analysis, Guidance and Reporting

  • Develop metrics and processes for financial system implementation & restructuring.
  • Directs financial guidance to Operational leadership and other senior corporate staff members (including Group Finance) to ensure the business achieves short- and long-term financial goals including performance reviews of gross margin yields, KPI’s, cost drivers, etc.
  • Support Operations and Supply Chain to improve margins and lead cost savings initiatives
  • Lead financial due diligence activities for potential acquisition opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Finance/Accounting, minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong business acumen- interpersonal- communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in leading and influencing financial reporting, accounting/controlling processes, and setting financial governance with a “profit center vs cost center” mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and make key decisions- managing multiple projects concurrently with limited direct supervision
  • Motivated self-starter who can effectively work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Possesses the ability to lead teams and effectively work through others- with the ability to influence cross-functional team members
  • Team player who manages collaboratively with the ability to influence management- in some cases without authority

 

Desirable:

 

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Experience within a highly regulated industry, such as Pharmaceutical, Human and/or Animal
  • Understanding and appreciation for leading within a global, privately held business
