About the Role

With significant operations throughout Canada and the United States, we are seeking an experienced and versatile Human Resources Generalist to oversee and streamline our HR operations across both countries. This role is pivotal in supporting our diverse workforce, ensuring compliance with local employment laws, and implementing HR strategies that align with our company's vision and values.


What you will do


  • HR Compliance: Ensure full compliance with employment laws and regulations in both the United States and Canada. Keep abreast of legal updates and implement necessary changes to policies and practices.
  • Policy Development: Develop and revise HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and fairness across all North American operations.
  • Recruitment and Staffing: Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and executing hiring processes. Manage onboarding and orientation programs for new employees to foster a positive introduction to the company culture.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a key point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, mediating disputes and facilitating resolution in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Performance Management: Implement and oversee performance review processes, providing support to managers and employees in setting goals, feedback, and professional development plans.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop initiatives for professional growth and skill development across the workforce.
  • Benefits Administration: Manage and administer employee benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with both U.S. and Canadian regulations.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, promoting a workplace that values and respects differences

What you bring to the role


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification required (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CHRP, CHRL).
  • Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with a strong background in managing HR operations across both the United States and Canada
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and practices in both the U.S. and Canada
  • Multi-site experience (7 or more sites)
  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage and resolve conflicts, engage employees and build strong relationships.
  • Ability to analyze HR data and metrics to inform decisions and improve HR practices.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll practices is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is requited. 

Desirable:

  • A Masters Degree preferred
